Dicksonia is a modern genus of tree fern that is most commonly found in the tropical regions of the southern hemisphere. Depending on the exact species, its maximum height can be anywhere from 4 - 10 metres. D. antarctica has an edible, starchy pith. Dicksonia is quite an old genus of tree fern, dating back to at least the Late Jurassic or Early Cretaceous.
